Nagpur: Heavy rainfall in Mumbai on Monday severely disrupted air travel, leaving Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and several legislators from Nagpur stranded at the city’s airport as flights to Mumbai were affected.

The disruption prevented the leaders from reaching the state capital in time for the opening day of the Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature. Later, both Houses of the Legislature were adjourned after weather forecasts predicted heavy rainfall and strong winds across Mumbai and nearby regions.

Among those affected were Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, BJP MLAs Sameer Meghe and Praveen Datke, Congress MLA Vikas Thakre, and MLC Rajiv Potdar.

He also urged the state government to consider extending the duration of the legislative session to make up for the time lost due to the disruption.
