Hyderabad police introduce annual awards for excellence in investigation

The Hyderabad City Police have introduced annual awards to recognise excellence in criminal investigation and policing, honouring 32 personnel for their performance between June 2025 and May 2026.

The awards were presented by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar during Telangana Formation Day celebrations held at the City Armed Reserve headquarters in Petlaburj on Tuesday, June 2.

Under the newly instituted ‘Hyderabad City Police Excellence Award for Best Investigation’, 14 personnel, including four investigating officers and 10 court duty officers, were recognised for securing convictions through evidence-based investigations. Another 18 personnel received the “Hyderabad City Police Excellence Award for Best Performance” for outstanding service in various policing duties.

Police said the awardees were selected based on their role in handling cases from registration of FIRs to securing convictions in courts.

The Commissioner said the initiative aims to encourage professional excellence and scientific investigation practices within the force. During the event, six citizens were also felicitated for exemplary civic responsibility, including acts of honesty and achievements in sports and public service.
