52-year-old man killed as parapet wall of building collapses in Nagpur – ThePrint – PTIFeed

Nagpur, Jun 29 (PTI) A 52-year-old man lost his life after the parapet wall of an old building collapsed during heavy rains in Nagpur on Monday afternoon, police said.

The cave in, which took place near the busy Gitanjali Chowk area, also damaged one car and half a dozen two-wheelers parked nearby, they said.

The deceased was identified as Santosh Chhotelal Gaur, a resident of the Futala area. He had gone to an automobile shop to get his two-wheeler repaired when the parapet wall of the building, ‘Narayan Chambers’, suddenly gave way and fell on him during heavy showers, police said.

The man died on the spot after getting trapped under the debris, they said.

“We immediately rushed to the scene after receiving information, secured the area and started an investigation,” a Ganeshpeth police station officer said.

Police are now verifying whether the building was declared dilapidated, if a structural audit had been conducted, and whether the owner and authorities concerned had taken the required safety measures. PTI COR RSY
