3 from city killed near Wardha while returning from Pandharpur

A pilgrimage ended in tragedy, on Saturday, when a car carrying devotees from Nagpur crashed into a truck parked by the roadside at Sawangi Bypass in Wardha district. Three persons, including two women, were killed in the accident, while four others suffered critical injuries in the devastating accident.
The deceased have been identified as Kishori Pradeep Uke (49), Monali Nilesh Meshram (37) and Tanish Chandrashekhar Uke (6), all residents of Nagpur.
According to police, the group had visited Pandharpur and Akkalkot for darshan and was on its way back to Nagpur when the accident took place. Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle was been driven at a considerable speed on the bypass when the driver allegedly lost control. Moments later, the car slammed into a truck parked by the roadside.
“The collision was extremely severe.
The front portion of the car was completely crushed after it hit the stationary truck,” a police officer said.
The force of the impact left the vehicle badly mangled and trapped several occupants inside. Kishori Uke and Monali Meshram died on the spot
while Tanish breathed his last at a hospital.
Those injured in the accident include driver Tushar Laxman Jadhav (37), Nita Anil Baraskar (55), Divyanshi Nilesh Meshram (10), Aradhya Santosh Uke (13), Ishanya Anil Baraskar (17), Sadhana Anil Baraskar (56), and Kanchan Chandrashekhar Uke (42). All are residents of Nagpur. Police said, five of the injured remain in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police and emergency teams rushed to the spot. Local residents also joined the rescue effort and helped personnel pull the injured from the wreckage before they were shifted to hospital for treatment.
“The rescue operation was difficult because the vehicle had been badly damaged. Local citizens extended support to evacuated the injured and arrange immediate medical help,” the officer added.
The accident caused traffic disruptions on the highway for some time before police cleared the scene and restored normal movement.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Officials are examining whether overspeeding, driver fatigue or the possibility of the driver dozing off after the long journey contributed to the accident.
