Suspended SI held for sexually assaulting woman on pretext of marriage

A suspended sub-inspector of police was arrested by the Kukatpally police on Wednesday following allegations that he sexually exploited a woman under the false promise of marriage.

The accused, identified as Suresh Kumar, a 2018 batch official, was working at Kollur police station before being placed under suspension.

A case was registered at Kukatpally police station based on a complaint lodged by a woman alleging that the officer sexually harassed and cheated her after assuring her that he would marry her.

Officials said the accused was arrested and was being produced before a court.

Further investigation into the case is under way.
