Mumbai Traffic Police issue advisory ahead of Eid-e-Milad 2026, check details

Mumbai Police on Wednesday issued a traffic advisory for motorists ahead of Eid-e-Milad 2026 and announced restrictions and diversions in Mankhurd on August 26.
According to a traffic notification, temporary traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place in Mankhurd area of eastern suburbs of the city on August 26 in view of an Eid-e-Milad procession.
The traffic arrangements will be in force between 2 pm and 10 pm to manage traffic and minimise disruption as a large number of people are expected to take part in the procession, the notification said.
According to the traffic notification issued by Pradeep Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Eastern Suburbs Traffic), around 70,000 to 80,000 people, 100 to 200 motorbikes and more than 50 large vehicles are expected to participate in the procession along the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road (GMLR).
Heavy vehicles to face restrictions
Heavy motor vehicles, except BEST buses and vehicles participating in the Eid-e-Milad procession, will not be allowed on either side of the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road between Chheda Nagar Junction and Mankhurd T-Junction during the restricted period.
Light motor vehicles will be directed to use the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road flyover.
No-parking restrictions
The Traffic Police have also declared no-parking restrictions on both sides of the following roads:
– Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road, between Chheda Nagar Junction and Mankhurd T-Junction
– Madhukar Kadam Marg
– P L Lokhande Marg
Motorists have been advised not to park vehicles along these stretches during the procession.
Heavy vehicles heading towards Vashi
Heavy vehicles travelling from Chheda Nagar Junction towards Vashi will have to take the Eastern Express Highway and proceed towards Umarshi Bappa Junction before using V N Purav Marg.
The diversion is intended to keep heavy vehicles away from the procession route.
Diversion for vehicles heading towards Ghatkopar, Vikhroli
Heavy vehicles travelling from the Sion-Panvel Road via Mankhurd T-Junction towards Ghatkopar or Vikhroli will have to take V N Purav Marg and proceed through Umarshi Bappa Junction.
The traffic restrictions will be in place from 2 pm to 10 pm on August 26.
Motorists travelling through Mankhurd, Ghatkopar, Vashi and nearby areas have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, follow the diversion routes and cooperate with Mumbai Traffic Police personnel.
The restrictions have been introduced to facilitate the Eid-e-Milad procession while maintaining traffic movement and ensuring the safety of participants and other road users.
