Nagpur, Aug 16 (PTI) A 33-year-old man was murdered allegedly by his friend and wife, who attempted to stage the killing as an accident in Maharashtra’s Nagpur, police said on Sunday.
The victim, Sudhir Mahendraprasad Dwivedi, a resident of Gajanan Nagar, was found dead on a road on the morning of August 10, following which a case of accidental death was registered, an official from MIDC police station said.
“The post-mortem report showed that Sudhir had died an unnatural death. A probe revealed that his wife Pooja was allegedly having an affair with his friend Ashishkumar Nareshkumar Agnihotri,” he said.
According to police, Sudhir and Ashishkumar worked in private companies and were friends. The accused often visited the victim’s house, and while Sudhir had suspected his wife of having an affair, he was unaware of his friend’s involvement.
The official said that the accused allegedly got Sudhir drunk on the night of August 9, hit him on the head with an iron rod and strangled him with a dupatta, before dumping his body on the roadside.
“A liquor bottle was left at the spot to make the death look like an accident,” he said.
A case has been registered against Ashishkumar and the victim’s wife, and the former has been arrested, the official said. PTI COR ARU
