Mumbai lake levels at 88.88 per cent as seven reservoirs hold 12,86,403 million litres

Mumbai’s seven lakes, which supply drinking water to the city, collectively held 12,86,403 million litres of water, or 88.88 per cent of their total live storage capacity, as of 6 am on Monday, August 10, according to the Hydraulic Engineer’s Department at the Bhandup Master Control Centre.  

The current stock stays lower than the same period last year, when the reservoirs contained 12,88,479 million litres (89.02 per cent). However, the lake levels remain significantly lower than 2024, when the lakes had 13,25,101 million litres, accounting for 91.55 per cent of the total live storage.
