Nagpur: A disturbing incident in Nagpur has raised serious questions over the city’s emergency response system after an injured stray cow was left lying on the road for nearly five hours despite repeated pleas for help from a ruling party public representative. Civic authorities reportedly acted only after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Cow Seriously Injured in Road Accident

The incident took place in Balaji Nagar, where an unidentified speeding vehicle allegedly hit a cow that was crossing the road late at night. The impact left the animal critically injured, while the driver fled the scene without stopping.

Local residents immediately informed Dhantoli Zone Chairperson Bharti Bunde, who rushed to the spot along with her husband Vikas Bunde.

According to local residents, the public representative repeatedly contacted the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s animal ambulance service seeking immediate assistance. However, despite continuous follow-up for nearly five hours, no rescue team arrived.

Throughout the night, the injured cow remained on the roadside in heavy rain, struggling in pain. Residents covered the animal with a cloth in an attempt to protect it from the downpour while waiting for help.

Administration Responds After Video Goes Viral

The situation changed only on Friday morning after videos of the injured cow circulated widely on social media. Following public outrage, the municipal administration finally dispatched a rescue team, which shifted the seriously injured animal to a veterinary hospital for treatment.
