Nagpur: Passengers travelling from Nagpur to Bengaluru faced major inconvenience on Monday after an IndiGo Airlines flight was cancelled just before departure due to a technical fault detected during routine pre-flight checks.
The flight was scheduled to depart from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at 10:25 am. However, during the mandatory engineering inspection, technicians identified a technical issue with the aircraft. Prioritising passenger safety, the airline decided to cancel the flight instead of allowing it to operate.
Technical Fault Detected Before Boarding
The technical problem was identified before passenger boarding began, ensuring that no passengers boarded the aircraft and eliminating any immediate safety risk. IndiGo informed passengers about the cancellation and initiated alternative travel arrangements.
Aircraft Under Detailed Inspection
Following the cancellation, the aircraft was moved to the hangar for a comprehensive technical inspection. Engineers are examining the cause of the fault, and the aircraft will return to service only after all necessary repairs and safety checks are completed.
Passengers Face Travel Disruptions
The cancellation disrupted the travel plans of many passengers. Several had connecting domestic and international flights from Bengaluru, while others were travelling for business meetings, medical appointments, educational commitments, and other important purposes. Many passengers had to wait at the airport for rebooking assistance and information on alternate flights.
According to airline sources, affected passengers are being provided with alternate flight options, ticket rescheduling, or refunds as per applicable policies.
The airline reiterated that passenger safety remains its highest priority and that cancelling the flight after detecting the technical issue was the safest course of action. Aviation experts also noted that pre-flight inspections are designed to identify such faults before take-off, helping prevent potential in-flight incidents.
