Two 17-year-old intermediate students were killed after a lorry rammed into the scooter they were riding on while they were on their way to play cricket in Hyderabad on Sunday (July 26, 2026) morning. A third teenager, who was travelling with them, escaped with minor injuries.

The deceased were identified as B. Mahesh and Laxmi Teja, both aged 17. Their friend, B. Kiran, also 17, sustained minor injuries in the accident.

At around 5 a.m. on Sunday (July 26, 2026), they were travelling from Moosapet towards KPHB and had planned to stop for tea before heading to the cricket ground.

Police said the accident was reported at a U-turn when a lorry travelling in the same direction struck the scooter from the side. The impact caused Mahesh and Teja to fall to the left side of the road, where they were run over by the lorry. Kiran fell to the right and escaped with minor injuries.

The lorry driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot, shifted the bodies for postmortem examination and launched an investigation.

A case has been registered, and the lorry has been detained. Efforts are under way to trace the absconding driver.
