Ashok Dhyanchand to grace 58th Bankers Sports Council awards on Friday | Nagpur News
Nagpur: Former Olympian Ashok Dhyanchand, best known for scoring the winning goal in the 1975 hockey World Cup final, will distribute the annual awards of the Bankers Sports Council at the Narayani Memorial Hall of MKH Sancheti Jr College on Friday.Vidarbha cricketer Harsh Dubey was named the outstanding sportsperson for the year 2024-2025. He will receive the Late VV Naik Trophy during the 58th BSC annual prize distribution function. Vidarbha U-23 skipper Faiz Shaikh will be awarded the RS Mundle Memorial Col CK Naidu Trophy, while the Sports Journalists’ Association of Nagpur (SJAN) will get the outstanding sports organiser award .

Sanket Asare of the Bank of Maharashtra and Sonali Bhave of PNB were picked as the best sportspersons of inter-bank events. Dainik Bhaskar sports reporter Chayan Mukharjee will be given the Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award, informed BSC Secretary Ravi Joshi during a press conference on Tuesday.In addition, veteran shuttler Sharad Mahajan will be given a special award for his outstanding performance in badminton, while Ulhas Ghande will be felicitated for being adjudged the best umpire by the BCCI.Niraj Singh, the general secretary of YMCA, was chosen for his services to the BSC. The other awardees in various categories include Bhagyashree Tikle, Arvind Kadbe, Rajesh Kamble, Vikram and Ajinkya Gandhe, Ishwari Pande (swimming), Bharati Fulmali (cricket), and Shrikant Sahastrabuddhe.The podium finishers and individual performers of various inter-bank tournaments will also be given awards for the last year, said BSC vice president Sharad Padhye. On the occasion, BSC treasurer Rajesh Joshi, Prafulla Nandedkar, Mangesh Puranik and other members were present.
