Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Thursday (July 16, 2026) carried out three land protection operations across Hyderabad, securing government land worth over ₹600 crore in Banjara Hills and reclaiming 1,800 square yards of encroached park land in Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. The agency fenced all the reclaimed properties to prevent fresh encroachments.

The largest operation was on Road No. 13 in Banjara Hills, where HYDRAA fenced 3.63 acres of government land abutting Banjara Lake. The property, estimated to be worth over ₹600 crore, is under litigation.

According to HYDRAA, the land remained an unrecognised plot in a layout prepared during the Nizam era. Residents and the Banjara Hills Lake Protection Committee complained through the agency’s Prajavani platform that repeated attempts were being made to encroach upon the land and sought its protection and development as a park. They also said the neglected site had turned into a dumping ground, affecting the lake.

Following a joint inspection with officials of the concerned departments, HYDRAA fenced the property to prevent further encroachment pending disposal of the court case and installed boards displaying details of the litigation.

800 square yards park site in Hayathnagar mandal

In Ranga Reddy district, HYDRAA reclaimed an 800-square-yard park site in Venkatadri Nagar under Mamilla village in Hayathnagar mandal. The land had been reserved as a park in a 7.2-acre layout approved in 1975 but was later converted into residential plots and sold. Despite a court ruling reaffirming its status as park land, it remained under encroachment. Acting on residents’ complaints, HYDRAA forces cleared the encroachments, fenced the site and erected signboards identifying it as park land.

Park sites in Boduppal mandal

The agency also reclaimed two 500-square-yard park sites in Anaghapuri Colony, Boduppal mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Reserved in a 16-acre layout developed in the 1980s, the sites had allegedly been converted into plots and encroached upon. After verifying the layout, HYDRAA removed precast boundary structures, fenced both sites and installed signboards, as per a press note from the agency.
