RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat set to visit US & Canada

New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to visit the US and Canada later this year as part of the organisation’s centenary outreach initiatives, ThePrint has learnt.

“The visit is in relation to the centenary year celebrations and an outreach to the Indian community as well as others. He is likely to speak at some of the key events and the final schedule is being prepared. He has been invited by a number of organisations and a final itinerary is being decided on,” said a source in the RSS.

The Sangh, founded on 27 September 1925 in Nagpur, completed a hundred years last year. Celebrations have continued into 2026.

In January this year, while answering questions during his lecture series event in Mumbai, the RSS chief had confirmed his upcoming travel to the US and his participation in the centenary outreach event.

A senior RSS functionary said some of the programmes and invitations are at an individual level but there are others which are from socio-cultural organisations, universities and other institutions.

A source further said that some of the events are being organised by the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), an organisation inspired by the RSS ideology that serves as a voluntary, non-profit, cultural organisation for Hindus living outside India.

The Sangh chief had travelled to the United Kingdom in 2016 for an event marking 50 years of the organisation. In 2018, he had visited Chicago and addressed over 2,500 delegates at second World Hindu Congress held there. Five years later, he had delivered the inaugural address in the 2023 World Hindu Congress in Thailand’s Bangkok.

In April this year, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale had also visited the US, UK as well as Germany and held interactions, including one at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC.
