AIIMS Nagpur signs MoU for 4 MW solar power project to advance sustainability goals
Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development and the adoption of renewable energy, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MAHAPREIT (Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited) for the establishment of a 4 MW Solar Power Project on the AIIMS Nagpur campus, according to PIB release.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Prashant P. Joshi, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Nagpur, and Shri Santosh Wahane, Chief General Manager, MAHAPREIT, in the presence of officials from both institutions.
MAHAPREIT is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mahatma Phule Backward Class Development Corporation (MPBCDC), a Government of Maharashtra Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) engaged in promoting renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure initiatives across the state.
AIIMS Nagpur has consistently undertaken several initiatives to promote the utilization of clean and renewable energy. The institute has been operating a 500 kW solar power plant since 2019 through the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Further strengthening its green energy infrastructure, an additional 200 kW rooftop solar power system is currently being installed through NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN).
The proposed 4 MW Solar Power Project marks another significant milestone in AIIMS Nagpur’s journey towards achieving greater energy efficiency, reducing its carbon footprint, and fostering environmentally sustainable institutional practices.
